Fw: Horse shoe

I'm amazed that Sierra did this all while I was checking email upstairs.  It was a plastic bag full of little paints, little bags of glitter, etc.  I was amazing she did everything - the glueing, painting (getting all the little lid jiggers off too!) by herself.  And hardly leaving a mess on the floor at all. "I wiped it up afterwards" she said matter of factly.  "Did you wash your hands?" "Yes."  :)

First day of school

Unfortunately, I didn't get many pictures because she was so distraught.

Being the sensitive individual that Sierra is, she was, to put it lightly, worried about starting kindergarten.  I did all kinds of things to help prepare her. She went to 5 camps this summer, I checked out every book in the library (30+ books) on starting kindergarten, and we talked about it the way all the experts recommend per various books and websites.  I did not even plan to tell her about the 1st day until a 2 days before. (They say not to let a worrier needlessly worry too far in advance.)  It ended up being the day before because 2 days before, we were almost not going to the school anymore (but that's another story TO BE FILLED IN)

She held it together until the moment we were about to leave the classroom and that's when she burst into tears and grabbed my shirt and wouldn't let go. The teacher Mrs. Mitchell held her in her lap while I made a quick escape.

At pick up time, Sierra was playfully running around the yard and Mrs. Mitchell reported that that was the only incident and she had a great time afterwards. During class, Sierra announced that she really wants to go back tomorrow!

After she came home, all afternoon, she kept saying she wished she could go back to kindergarten now.  Talk about a complete turnaround!

I was texting Kim about this and she said to prepare for a lot of back and forth for the first couple months.  Then sure enough as she was going to bed, she said that maybe she doesn't want to go tomorrow. Hahaha. One of the other moms told me the true test is the next few days when they realize that Yes, they have to go there every day.

This morning, Sierra amazingly slept until 7am and I had to wake her.  Amazing.  I thought she'd be stressed, but no, she just kept sleeping.  I once asked my doctor when kids start sleeping in, and she said just wait until they start school and have no motivation to get up.  She was right on, at least today.
