To get a better view, Sierra likes to tilt her head to the side sometimes. It's adorable.
Today the green carpet cleaners came and Sierra enjoyed watching them vacuum (in preparation) before cleaning.
Naya is doing better these days now that she's on the appetite stimulant. She's at 5 lbs, 11.5 oz today (compared to 5 lbs, 7 oz several weeks ago).
Sierra has not had blood in her poo for 1.5 weeks now. Yay! She just started stage 2 foods (squash). She loved squash & apple today - she was going "Mm, mm, mm" while eating it.
Not as much a blog as an online baby book for jotting down notes, milestones, and documenting all the wonderful stories of Sierra before we forget them! - for her to enjoy when she grows up and for us to look back on the memories in the future. Note that this blog is not publicly searchable, so please do not share the link. I may end up password protecting it at some point.

Fake kesou
Sierra will sometimes chug water out of her sippy cup (she's in the process of learning how to use it) too fast and then cough. Winnie taught Sierra to do a fake cough. Winnie will say, "Kesou... kuh, kuh" and Sierra responds, with a cute litte "kuh".

Chris, Kim, & Max
Last Sunday was the first uneventful day sick-wise in awhile - no mastitis for me, Naya was hungry but no diarrhea (which re-commenced today), and Sierra has not been having blood in her poo for over a week (knock on wood). Chris, Kim, & Max were in town for a wedding and we met them for about 2 hours at Crown Memorial State Beach in Alameda before they flew home from OAK. It was a hot day and Sierra wore her jean diapers and elephant shirt. Max ran all over and didn't want to sit in the stroller for a walk, so we ended up sitting on the grass in the shade. Sierra sat in Max's stroller while Max had some fig newtons, which he generously offered to Sierra, who was spending this time staring at Max and wondering who (and what) he was. I'm not sure if she'd ever really seen a toddler before up close. :)
Afterwards, Sierra refused to nurse or sleep in the car, which threw off her schedule for going home to eat dinner. She started fussing on the freeway, so just before dumbarton, we pulled over, she nursed 1/2 of one side, fell asleep, I put her back in the carseat, we came home, she finished nursing, and then slept for an hour. It was hot and she was sweaty after crying in the car, so I quickly showered her in the shower with me (while Josh held her), and then Josh put her to bed.
Lately, she has not gone down in the crib - when Josh rocks her and puts her down, she wakes up crying right away. Last night, Josh tried putting her in our bed, and then lay next to her for a bit, and she stayed asleep.

Rolling off the bed
Last Saturday, daddy fell asleep while Sierra rolled all over the bed... and onto the ground! :(
I was downstairs and heard a thump and howling wail. It was awful. I ran upstairs and said "josh what happened? you have to tell the truth. this is serious." and he said that he fell asleep and she rolled off the bed. He was holding her at this point. She continued crying for a couple minutes, stopped, and then smiled at me.
We have no idea if she hit her head or her rump. We looked falls up in the book. We called the nurse line and were walked through all the signs to look for. She's 27" now and the bed is about 20" (since we took off the frame) and when a baby falls a distance less than her height, it is at least better. She seemed to be OK, thankfully! We were very, very lucky that Sierra survived the fall ok (knock on wood).
(There are 3 bedrails on our bed, but they don't cover the whole bed and she managed to roll off in the space where there wasn't a bedrail. I usually put the backrest there, but figured with Josh there watching, it wasn't needed--Ha.)
Yesterday, Winnie was saying "kesou" and coughing and Sierra would fake a cough in response. It was very cute. She definitely knew what was going on there!
When Sierra tastes something tart, she scrunches up her face and looks very cute. She did this when she tried applesauce for the first time. She also tongue touched gran gran's unripe (sour) pluot today and did the same thing. She doesn't seem to mind it though. Maybe she'll like sour food when she grows up!

Inchworm
Josh calls it slithering, but I think it is more like an inchworm. Sierra inchwormed across the king sized bed on Saturday, June 5. Unlike crawling, instead of using her hands, she used her face! Seems uncomfortable, but she didn't seem to mind!
Sierra really enjoys her solids. So far she has had rice cereal, carrots (bad poo and some spit/throw up afterwards, so we quit), sweet potatoes, and apples. Yesterday at breakfast, she sat with her mouth opened wide in anticipation of breakfast while gran gran prepared rice cereal and apple sauce for her. Gran gran said she's like a baby bird opening her mouth to feed!
Sierra is sitting much more strongly these days. She enjoys sitting up after all those months of lying down.

Milk colitis
Today we saw this great pediatric gastroenterologist, Dr. Bass. He said Ms. Sierra has (cow's) milk colitis. He's seen babies like this and they are fine as long as they stay on breastmilk, and she should outgrow it eventually. We shouldn't introduce milk to her until she is a year old and when we do, do it carefully, like just a spoonful and wait 24 hours.
She weighed in at 17 lb, 6 oz, 68cm (almost 27").
Sierra is rolling all the time now. She rolls around the bed before and during sleeping. She also likes sleeping on her tummy.
