I don't want to jinx this, but Mudder and Ayi finally decided to put her in panties and she has been using the potty ever since. She started napping in her panties last week too. And this morning she woke up with a dry diaper. But we're still wearing diapers at night so she can go pee if she wants to at night.
When you potty train, you're supposed to do it over a weekend or a few days. Then you're done. Sierra's Chinese playgroup (Skyla and Caitlyn) were both potty trained months ago, closer to age 2.
With Sierra, we randomly put panties on her at various times and then switched her back. Over months. This is not the recommended way. Why? Because it's confusing! Sierra was at a point where she would ask, "Am I wearing panties or diaper?" And then if I said "diaper", she would pee and if not, she would ask for the potty. So for the longest time, she was just asking what she was wearing, and going as appropriate.
Why didn't we just switch to panties? Bc she was always asking to poop in her diaper. She finally got over this last week when she has mild diarrhea (something she ate?) and had no choice to go in the potty.
So there you have it (knock on wood)!
Also, I should note that when she was first peeing in the potty months ago, and even up until recently, she cracked the biggest smile on her face when she was peeing! It was so cute. She just opened her mouth and gave me this happy open-mouthed smile. I wish I had gotten it on camera.
Not as much a blog as an online baby book for jotting down notes, milestones, and documenting all the wonderful stories of Sierra before we forget them! - for her to enjoy when she grows up and for us to look back on the memories in the future. Note that this blog is not publicly searchable, so please do not share the link. I may end up password protecting it at some point.

Printer delivery service
For as long as I can remember (maybe Ayi encouraged her early on?), whenever the printer prints, Sierra loves to run up to the printer, grab the page(s), and bring them to me. Mudder once commented that kids and cats are the same! Because Naya is fascinated with the printer and loves running up to the printer and watching the the papers roll through.

First time she mentioned dreaming
"I was thinking about ice cream cones while I was sleeping," Ra-ra announced in Chinese and English this morning.
"What kind of ice cream cones?" I asked
"Sand ice cream cones!" (Yesterday we were making ice cream cones in her sand box.)
Speaking of ice cream...
Ra-ra told Gran gran that she likes the ice cream at gran gran's house, but not here (Baskin Robbins). I forgot to blog that we had Tahitian vanilla ice cream at Gran's in May. (See May 1 post.) There is a gelateria in the gourmet ghetto. They had 2 kinds of vanilla - Tahitian and Madagascar. She said Tahitian is a stronger vanilla, so I got that. Sierra took a lick and she liked it! She kept licking more and more! But 2 days later, back at the same place, she refused to try more gelato. And not since then. She refuses to try ice cream.

SHE's at Chinese story time
Sierra sang along softly to all the songs, which she knew. She really enjoyed it and sat through the whole thing paying attention the whole time. None of the other kids sang.
We signed up for the month of June.
