Go-lilla

That's how she says "gorilla".  :)  Like when we talked about riding the gorilla on the Happy Hollow carousel yesterday. Kui, Diana, and Kevin joined us.

SHE likes Happy Hollow

Many times on the carousel - every time she wanted the Gorillilla, finally she got it!

We were on our way to the dragon train when she saw the car ride. We were no longer on our way to the dragon train.

She kept running across the field to come back and hug the elephant.

She conquered the rope bridge and learned to do it all by herself - moving her hands forward, taking a step, moving her hands forward, taking a step, etc.

Puppet Show and games

Sierra really enjoyed the puppet show Gran took her to Saturday May 12 (while Josh went to a conference). She watched the whole thing and laughed at the funny parts. She sat there after all the (50 or so) other kids left and said she wanted to see more.  So they chatted with the puppeteer a little and finally left.  Previously, I think she was too young for this type of show.

Also, she enjoys games now. She enjoyed playing little kid carnival games at the carnival behind our house May 5-6 weekend.  I set out some paper bags later at home so she could toss things into it, but had to stand behind the jump rope line. She loved it. She was throwing all her toys in the bags. :)

She's been showing this interest in going through our board games and matching colors and numbers and pictures (we just make up our own games with the cards).  So yesterday we bought her first board game, Hi Ho Cherry-O and she enjoyed it, though I'm not sure she gets the winning part yet, it's fun for her to go through the actions.

May updates

After spending the week at Gran's earlier this month, her nasal congestion FINALLY cleared (knock on wood), so perhaps it really was the NASTY dust mites in our carpet at home.

Sierra has made some progress in assertiveness these days, as recounted by Gran:

At Shoup Park, she was pretending the wood chips were cookies. She put them on the seesaw. Later, she noticed a mom and her child on the seesaw. She walked up to them and said "Where are my(the?) cookies?"  The mom looked stunned and got up and gave her the wood chip.  Later, recounting this story, Sierra found it hilarious that it was "under her butt!" hahaha.

She went to the bank and Ayi said there were toys inside (mistake). She walked inside, went to the teller and said "Where are the toys?"

At Totland with me, she was playing with her sandbox toys. This other boy started taking her toys. I saw her take at least one of them back from his hand!

Yesterday at the Bing Children's Fair, we were at the wood gluing art station. You got a little board and glued wood pieces to it. Sierra loaded up a toy wheel barrel with some wood pieces for her art project. This boy came up and started yelling that he wanted to take them or something like that. Sierra walked to the wheel barrel and wheeled it in the other direction. Good girl! :)

Previously, Sierra would just let other kids take toys from her and stand there sadly. Yay Sierra! Hopefully this continues.  Both her parents are very passive/easily intimidated in this way, so I'm hoping she does not take after us. Even yesterday at the playground, Josh told Sierra she had to take her cookies off the seesaw because the big girls wanted to ride it (as in 12 years old who were playing around in the toddler section). I rushed in to say Sierra was playing with her cookies on the seesaw. Then they offered to let her ride. She rode a few seconds, but got off shortly and wanted to keep "cooking". Fortunately they left.

Eclipse above the garage

Eclipse on our front door

SHE demanded her own burrito

SHE's sandy

Here Sierra is cooking on the see-saw at the PSF playground. This is prior to the older girls coming to see-saw (see later post).
