Sierra sang to herself to sleep this morning when we walked her outside. I thought it might be a coincident. She did it again this afternoon, when we put her in the car seat, she fuzzed for 10 seconds, then started "singing" to herself again. About one minute later, the little angel fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Nowadays, about 2.5 hours after her last wake-up time ( and not close to her feeding time, and with clean diaper), she sleeps well in the car seat. The amazing self-lullubying is a new thing today.

Coyote Hills

Today (President's Day) we went on her second hike (after Rancho San Antonio). There haven't been many opportunities to go outdoors this winter since it's been so cold and rainy, but it was sunny and decently warm today. Coyote Hills is in Fremont near the Dumbarton Bridge. It's nice and green and grassy in the winter and spring, and you get wonderful views of the sparkling water in the bay and the peninsula and even SF beyond.

She started out in the baby jogger bassinet but fussed, so Josh put her into the bjorn. I put her sunhat on. She immediately fell asleep and slept the entire hike. We went around the perimeter trail (paved) and then up and to the top one of the hills (unpaved). It was too steep to go down the other side with the baby jogger and sierra in the bjorn and our old hiking shoes with no traction, so we retraced our steps and went down the same side we came up.

[Note this was actually written on March 16, but I wanted to get her second hike in the right location in this blog!]

Smiley Game

Sierra sleeps about 5 hour (feed to feed) stretches at night, sometimes 6.

Sometimes when she is nursing, she likes to play smiley games where she'll pause and look up at me and smile a wide grin and then go back, face my breast, and open her mouth and pretend she is going to drink more and then pull back out and look up at me and smile. And she'll do this over and over for a little while. She is so cute when she does this.

Teagin's first day and catch up

Today was Teagin's first official day with Sierra.
This morning around 10, Teagin said she heard Sierra let out a hearty giggle from her belly!
Mudder had said she had heard Sierra laugh last week too.
Teagin was able to put Sierra down in the blue bouncer chair (with a receiving blanket over it) to sleep for 1 hour and then again for 1/2 hour! She usually only sleeps on people's chests (or off and on in the stroller when it is moving) during the daytime though lately she has been making progress in this area. On Friday (2/5) she slept for a long time in the stroller carseat when Mudder put a receiving blanket over it to make it womb like. I even brought the stroller inside after the walk and strolled it in a small figure 8 in the hallway and she stayed asleep for another hour!

We try to go on walks on the weekends.

Last weekend (2/6-7), on Saturday, we walked to downtown Mtn View and walked the entire Castro St for the first time. On Sunday, we went for a walk at Shoreline Park. She mostly slept with a few fussy periods on both walks.

Last, last, last weekend (1/23-24), she slept for a long time in the bassinet baby jogger stroller when we walked to downtown Los Altos. She even stayed asleep when we stopped for snacks at Satura (cream puff and bread pudding)! Though on the way back, Josh dropped the pacifier when reaching for his cell phone to answer a call from Norm, and she was fussy most of the way back (it was getting into her feeding time) and it was also starting to rain.

Last, last weekend (1/30-31), on Saturday, we ran errands and went to Town & Country, the Stanford Mall, the pet store by Fry's, and maternal connections (hospital store). she slept for a long time in her carseat and carseat stroller starting at the stanford mall and on. (She was fussy at Town & Country like she usually is at there - she must not like that mall.) On Sunday, we went to Rancho San Antonio and walked to the farm. She slept most of the time! It was her first "hike". She was in her carseat in the BJ (baby jogger).

Observations on behaviors so far:

She likes to be held and walk walk walk.
She likes to be held and go up and down (either lifting with your arms - tiring!) or bending your knees to raise and lower your body.

She has a cute grin! She opens her mouth wide and smiles. It is so heartwarming, especially after Sierra storms (where she scrunches up her face, crinkles her nose, frowns deeply, her face turns all red, and cries loudly).

She crinkles her nose and smiles with her eyes sometimes. This is so endearing.

Sierra was the loudest baby in the nursery. We could hear her coming down the hall. Josh had asked the nurses and also Dr. Fong if she was on the loud side and to be honest. They said yes.

She has the loudest cry and scream, but she has the softest and cutest coo. She says "ahhh" so gently and sweetly.
