Not as much a blog as an online baby book for jotting down notes, milestones, and documenting all the wonderful stories of Sierra before we forget them! - for her to enjoy when she grows up and for us to look back on the memories in the future. Note that this blog is not publicly searchable, so please do not share the link. I may end up password protecting it at some point.

Let's go meet new friends
At the beach (natural bridges in santa cruz) monday, after "washing our feet" (i.e., wading, running from the waves), playing in the sand briefly, and flying a kite briefly, Sierra announced, "Let's go make friends" and I said OK, who do you want to meet first? She pointed at the family closest to us and said "them" so we went up to them. Sierra immediately announced loudly (bc the ocean is loud), "MY NAME IS SIERRA!" It was awesome. I am so glad she is not shy. Shyness is such a disability. The mom immediately started conversing with her about how she loved her sunglasses, etc., and Sierra met her 2 boys (2 and 4) playing in the sand. We had Marianne's ice cream and then headed home. Sierra fell asleep on the way home like she usually does these days.

When she heard gran read her cards to poo
Sierra just happened to be pooing in our travel potty in a nice shady spot in Mountain View across from the Farmers Market, when I received this email from Gran:
From: "kathua@juno.com"
To: cloverh@yahoo.com; josh_elman@yahoo.com

Before I left, she gave me (voluntarily, out of blue) a stack of cards,
she said "you can read cards when you poop poop". I thanked her and took
over. Before I had a chance to put cards back to her card storage, she
had another idea, she was concerned if cards get scattered, she tore a
piece of paper towel and wrap cards inside and handed to me again. I
felt I was obligated to take home now because it apparently meant a lot
to her .
Minutes later when I was stepping out, she ran over from the kitchen to
wave goodby and she asked if I took the cards, I said yes, she said " I
want to see", I showed her the wraped cards in my tote bag. She was
happy and I was lucky (for not putting it back).
Please tell her Gran read the cards when Gran pooped this morning.

Haircut
This is her first professional hair cut at a kids hair cut place in los altos.
She has bangs now. Apparently, bangs are trendy nowadays, but we just wanted to not have to use hair clips all the time.
She was so pleased with the hair style afterwards with the bow on her head. She wore it for 2 days and then wanted the same style again today. :)

SHE loved her visit with Uncle Gerry. "see you next year"
Granduncle Gerry visited last night. He was in town for an event at Stanford.
He paid a lot of special attention to Sierra, reading her a book and doing puzzles with her (observing her and talking about it as she did it). Sierra loved the attention and told him he has to come back again "next year" and next time he can go to the park with her!
Gerry had just visited Floren for 1 week in Hawaii. After he arrived and spoke with Sierra briefly, he immediately said that Sierra sounded so much like Elijah the way they both speak in detailed and complete sentences in the same way and that there must be something to them being related since it was so similar.
SHE's in the purple garden!

Sierra loves skipping along when we walk outside. I don't recall when she started skipping, but she does it all the time now. It brings smiles to strangers watching her joyfulness while she skips!
Finally her adenoids seem to be shrinking (knock on wood). Phew. This was the longest or 2nd longest episode yet, starting Feb 4 or 5.
In 2011, the original episode started in late Aug/early Sept, lasted through Norm's birthday when it was slowly getting better, and then the shrimp eating on Norm's birthday caused a whole other episode lasting until December, including at least one cold and 2 rounds of antibiotics.
I really hope that she outgrows this.
