Potty progress

Yesterday, after an almost 4 month hiatus, she suddenly told me she wanted to go poo poo in the potty while we read cards.  So I dashed her upstairs, put her on the potty, and grabbed the cards. And she went!

For some reason, she has been ok peeing in the potty, but had stopped with the pooing... until last night!

SHE's doing Alef-Bet yoga - guess the letter

Gran got this book from the library called Alef Bet Yoga with kids doing every letter. She loves this book! You just flip the page and she copies them. Watching her little toddler body imitate the kids is so cute!

Slept until 7:45am today!!!

I had to note this because she hasn't done this since last summer.
It wasn't a great night though since she woke up crying for me twice and I had to run in there. But no matter, sleeping until 7:45am is so good for her.  She gets so little sleep, it definitely makes her immune system weaker. Sigh.

More mysterious nasal congestion

Sierra is still congested and it's back to the symptoms she had in the end of Sept/Oct - congestion but no runny nose, itchy eyes, sneezing, or anything else. She has to breathe through her mouth when sleeping often, or struggle breathing/snoring. :(  I think the cold is over and it's back to the mysterious congestion.

We took her to Dr. Bocian, an allergist yesterday. Her looked in her ears/nose/throat. Thankfully they were clear. (He said that people always seem to be clear when he sees them bc the office is totally sterile.) When I told him our carpet was 30 years old, he said 50% of its weight is dust mites!   Interestingly, he thought it was less likely she had enlarged adenoids based on the size of her tonsils being normal.  So it could just be our NASTY carpet. Ugh. If only we could find a new house now and move.

Meef

In Chinese, you call all meat "rou". People don't usually distinguish which kind of meat (since it's often pork). Anyway, I think Sierra knows that there are different kinds of meat names in English, but she's not that familiar. Like she knows about fish, chicken, and beef (and really what else is there?)

Well recently, she started asking for "meef". It's so cute. I'm not sure if she's trying to be silly or not, but we don't eat beef often, so she may have forgotten the exact word and remembered meef instead of beef (get it? meat + beef = meef!)

Anyway I think it's the cutest word. Meef!

SHE's making a Duplo rooftop deck

We got a Duplo table, house set, and animals (used from our neighborhood list) a couple weeks ago, and Sierra has been spending so much time playing with them!   She loves building houses like I used to with Daisy. Strangely, they don't make the house set anymore so you can only get it used!  I'd like to get more house pieces for her since some are missing. They all seem to be commercial character themed, which just doesn't allow for much flexibility (or creativity) in what you can build.

SHE notices every sound (and every detail of everything)

Yesterday in the car, she suddenly noticed the squeaking noise from the dog gate in the car and kept asking and looking for where it was coming from. It took me years to notice it (but once you do notice, it's annoying).

I have a tiny nick on my thumb from opening a package. She was sitting there with me yesterday, looked down,  and said "awww, mommy has an owie."

Countless other examples, which I'll fill in later...

She slept from 4:45pm yesterday until 6:30am this morning

This is the 2nd time she has done that in her life.
Yesterday she was not napping on the nai nai, so we took her for a car ride at 4:30. She fell asleep at 4:45pm. I a parked in the garage. She woke up at 6:15pm and I carried her inside and went upstairs. She fell back asleep on my shoulder. I carefully put her in bed and she stayed asleep. At 9pm, I carefully changed her diaper and into her PJs, and she slept the whole night! I was bracing for her to wake up in the middle of the night.

Poor girl probably needed to make up sleep after 2 weeks of congestion. Still congested...

SHE drew Gran-Gran

Gran pointed out the nostrils (which she said she was drawing, in Chinese).

She then proceeded to draw another gran gran, which had really good nostrils on the nose.

Sierra has been drawing faces for at least a month or two, but they are getting better and better! I think it helps that she likes happy faces. :-)

SHE's saving the baby monkey like Wonder Pets

Last Friday (4/6) night, she suddenly changed her socks to these socks and put on these shorts (all clothes that are too small for her but we leave out as play clothes for her dolls/animals). Josh was like "What is she doing?" I said "Ra ra, what are you doing?" and she said she was being like Wonder Pets (who change to their superhero outfits before taking off).  And she proceeded to run around singing wonder pets and saving animals. She had so much fun.

I had just introduced her to Wonder Pets a couple days before that. I told her Robbie like this show. The next day, she said, "Let's watch the show Robbie likes".  That show must have some sort of special formula down for toddlers, because now she is hooked too!
