Not as much a blog as an online baby book for jotting down notes, milestones, and documenting all the wonderful stories of Sierra before we forget them! - for her to enjoy when she grows up and for us to look back on the memories in the future. Note that this blog is not publicly searchable, so please do not share the link. I may end up password protecting it at some point.

Mystery allergy
So I've been on the elimination diet for a week now and she still had bits of blood in her poo on Mon night/Tues and Fri. I read that eggs and wheat are the other top allergens and so added them to my elimination diet as of today. I went to Whole Foods and spent an hour there finding foods that would fit my diet, like wheat free bread. A lot of wheat free foods still have egg or dairy (like gluten free donuts)!
Sierra likes to roll back and forth and back and forth. I saw her trying to inchworm on the bed today too. She is a very happy little girl.
On our home scale today, she weighed in at 17 lbs, 1.5 oz.
Lemma came back home Monday morning and after a day of resting mostly under the futon, he came out and is back to his old self. A day after that, Naya started coming out of the closet and eating. Now they are both pretty much back to normal. Who would have known that Naya would get that depressed with Lemma in the hospital?

When we sat by the jungle mat, she talked about her baby experiences in
various aspects.
She said Sierra is the happiest baby she had so far. She usually
prefers boy babies because they are usually less fussy for nothing.
However, she noticed Sierra is always happy, as long as she is not hungry
nor tired. (Winnie fed her 1.5 tsp cereal at 5pm, she was then nursed
at 6pm and slept for half an hour).
Have a good weekend and a happy Sierra
love, mdr

Rough week
Lots to catch up on...
Sierra has a 2nd tooth coming in, also in the bottom front middle. I haven't seen it yet, but Mudder has.
Lemma was at the vet last weekend and also since Thursday. He has DKA again, but he is getting better and expected to come home tomorrow.
Sierra started rice cereal last Sunday 5/16. She had it with breastmilk and really liked it. Then on Thurs she tried it with Enfamil, which she didn't like as much, but did eat. Friday she had a series of bloody poos and went to see Dr. Hwang, who thinks most likely it is milk protein allergy. I am going on an elimination diet to figure it out. No dairy, soy, nuts, citrus/berries, and shellfish.
Last Monday I woke up with a fever (~100) and a sore spot in my left breast. Went to the dr and have mastitis. I'm on Keflex antibiotics for 10 days now.
5/14 friday night on our bed. Sierra did a roll over roll down the bed. Kind of like when kids roll down the lawn.
5/16. Josh saw her chewing the orange poodle (vulli natural rubber teething ring - her favorite!). She widened her mouth and still stuck her tongue out. He called it her lizard tongue!

Teething
Sierra had her 6 mo checkup on Wed. She hasn't been sleeping as well lately and we asked Dr. Fong about teething. He opened her mouth and there it was - a little space in the middle bottom - her first tooth is coming in!
Sierra's 6 mo birthday was Tuesday and we celebrated by getting mini white cupcakes from Whole Foods.
She is doing lots of rolling from back to front and some from front to back too these days! A very busy little girl!

Happy mother's day (and grandmudder's day) & Naya is depressed
This weekend Mudder stayed with us and it was mother's day. Saturday I had to work and Josh took care of Sierra while Mudder was out for 7 hours shopping (Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Carter's, Target, Kohl's) for us for groceries and other household items.
Sunday, Mudder and I took Naya to the vet, where she got urine drawn from her bladder/an ultrasound (to check for stones/urinary problems) and a blood test (which took 2 pokes since the tech said she had a shallow vein?) and took forever since her blood was slow. She was such a patient sweet little girl. She was nervous and shivering. Poor little girl. Her results were all normal. The reason she went to the vet is in Dec, she weighed 7lbs, and Friday she weighed 6lbs. She has hardly been eating anything (and she is already very picky) ever since I was in the hospital for Sierra's delivery. (Even when we go away for a weekend trip, she gets depressed.) Also, Naya has been peeing outside the litterbox. So Naya is going to try Xanax. The vet (Dr. Derenzi) said Prozac (which Lemma took) was more effective for very strong cases and it was more subtle for Naya.
Sunday afternoon we went for a walk on the Bol Park trail in Palo Alto, where we saw the Bol park donkeys, while Mudder stayed home to spend some time with Naya. Then we came home and made handprint and footprint impressions of Sierra.
As for behaviors, Sierra likes to say ba ba ba and da da da when she's happy (she likes petting Naya under our supervision, though she tends to grab her fur and hasn't quite mastered petting). She says nyeh neh and myeh meh when she's mad, often before breaking out into crying.
She also likes to flap her arms up and down when she's happy and playful. I do it back to her and she likes that. It's very tiring on your arms though - I don't know where she gets all that energy!
Sierra also enjoys flapping/kicking her legs either in her chair or lying flat when she's happy and playful. The other day she was doing it in her chair while gran gran did it back to her multiple times (also very tiring) and she laughed and enjoyed it and kicked back. I took a video of this.
Giggling...
Josh figured out she is ticklish! When he tickles her ribs while he is holding her, she giggles. It's so cute. He took a video and put it on Youtube and posted it to facebook as well. Here it is:

Butt cut
So we went to see Dr. Fong again Wed 5/5. That morning we had seen more specks of blood in her poo. He looked at her again and said the anal fissure looks more raw, so he thinks that's what it is and not an allergy to something I've been eating. The last 2-3 weeks, I had been carefully logging everything I was eating, hoping to identify an allergen, but there was no consistent association that I could find. So now we're applying polysporin or vaseline to the cut to protect it.

Rollin rollin rollin
Sierra's really rolling now. Last Thursday Clover watched her roll on the changing table, and on Friday Josh saw her roll two times back to front, and once left her on her back only to come back with her upset to be stuck on her front. With this one down, next up is crawling?
