Not as much a blog as an online baby book for jotting down notes, milestones, and documenting all the wonderful stories of Sierra before we forget them! - for her to enjoy when she grows up and for us to look back on the memories in the future. Note that this blog is not publicly searchable, so please do not share the link. I may end up password protecting it at some point.

She's been enjoying a new show - Daniel Tiger (Mr. Roger's spin-off).
The other night, she asked me to sing "Grown ups come back" which is from the show and I hadn't seen it. I asked her to sing it. "Grown ups come back..." she sang so sweetly

I have a question.
I want to tell you a question.
Shyly smiles and whispers:
"Can Miss Lesley come over (to Ra ra's house?)" Followed by raucous laughter.
"Can I have mommy nai nai?"
"Can I pretend to be a baby and poo poo in my diaper?" (This was at 8pm of day 3 and she was TIRED. very temping to give in, but one I tried hard to dissuade!)
Josh's potty mouth
She likes to name animals and characters made-up words
Today we named the the kids I drew. She named one "shit" and found this hilarious because daddy uses this word. I couldn't help cracking up everytime too.
Getting sick.
Day 1 and night prior - fever. Woke at 6am, Napped from 11-2. (Sunday)
Day 2 coughing, no nap. from 7-9pm, finally slept w/gran sleeping. Josh announced he was sick upon arriving home.
Day 3 coughing worse than ever, no nap. from 6:45-8:15 finally she slept. tried to get josh to sing on the phone, but he fell asleep (go daddy)
Day 4 finally napped.
Started Luane's Little Explorers preschool Fridays only. Ages 2-4 with most younger except for 2 four year old boys but neither is social. So Sierra just wanders around playing with toys.
So proud that Sierra is finally standing up for herself and be assertive:
playdoh- No! I'm playing with it. (Boy's mom immediately told her son to "Share!"
toy cake - We sat down and had toy cake. Later, another kid was playing with it. "She's playing with your cake - mommy come here!" (Protecing my cake piece!)

She is being a couch potato like daddy after her chicken pox vaccine.
We recently took 2 trips to gran's house: 8/28-9/1 and 9/4-9/8. The first trip was because Chris and Kim were visiting and staying in SF. We planned to meet them several days. However, Chris and Max were really coughing so we ended up just having Josh and I meet them for a walk and doing a bunch on our our own.
The second trip was not planned. We returned home on 9/8 to find a flyer on our door saying they detected West Nile virus in mosquitoes and a bird in our area and our going to spray. Wonderful. So off we went again. She had a chicken pox vaccine scheduled with Dr. Fong but we got an appt at Berkeley Pediatrics right across the street from Gran's for this instead.
She was expecting it since she hasn't had a shot in over a year. I played the iphone for her to keep her interest. And Sierra didn't cry at all, although she definitely felt it. The rest of the morning, she said her arm hurt and let that arm flop limply while she moped around, insisting on being carried. Later in the day, she said it was better. And then she was back to her normal energetic self! (knock on wood)

Playing with Ruby in the nest

I love this photo of Ra ra and the look on her face. This is the look on her face when she is talking to someone and trying to make eye contact so they will hear her. A very Sierra moment and so sweet! Here I think she is asking Ruby to do something (I can't remember exactly what.) Sierra has much better social skills than I ever did!
We went to the bay area discovery museum in Sausalito on Thursday. They have these big nests with rocks inside. S walked up to one and Ruby was inside playing. Ruby said "I'm the mommy bird and you're the baby bird." I put Sierra in the nest. Ruby flew around and got worms for Sierra to eat. Then Ruby flew around and Sierra followed her, both flapping their arms and repeating "tweet tweet". They returned to the nest and Ruby said it was time to sleep and they closed their eyes. (see above photo).
SHE squealed with glee when she saw the giant cupcake
We drove by Google and they had these statues of sweets outside. Sierra spotted them and immediately got excited and could not stop talking about them. "I'm so happy!!!!!" she said as we pulled into the parking spot.
